Let's Go Canes

Coming into tonight's game against the Washington Capitals, the Carolina Hurricanes had only 1 victory in their last 7 games. This stretch of losses dropped the Canes into 9th place in the Eastern Conference and out of the playoffs for the time being. Nothing seemed to be going well, resulting in the replacement of head coach Peter Laviolette with former head coach Paul Maurice. Obviously this slump was not just the result of coaching, Eric Staal should take part of the blame as he is off to the worst season in his young career. But as Canes fans were losing hope in this season, the division leader and rival Washington traveled to the RBC. Eric Staal recorded his 9th goal of the season and the Canes picked up 2 points in a crucial 3-1 win. Hopefully, we will look back at this game as the turning point for the season. If the Canes are going to make a push for the playoffs, Staal will have to continue to score goals as he did tonight and lead this team as he has done in the past.
